Amish Country Events

The Illinois Amish country is a close knit community that
always has something special going on.  Because of the closeness of the
downtown and country shops the area always has an event going on from a
downtown festival to a country benefit auction.  We have visitors from
all over the country that come to the Amish country to take part in these
events and festivals.  Below of a sample of some of the events that
take place in the Arthur area.  Check our calendar of events to see
some of the new events or the dates of your favorite events.

3rd Saturday Downtown Arthur Market
Arthur is already well know for its great festivals and shopping
opportunities.  Couple this with the surrounding Amish area and
crafters and you have a perfect year round event.  Like the name
suggests, on the 3rd Saturday on each month vendors from all over the area
and state come together to show their handmade crafts, homemade baked goods,
and collectible antiques.  What started out at a few vendors has
blossomed into 30+ vendors.  For information on market dates or if you
would like to be a vendor at this event please click here.

Moultrie-Douglas County Fair
A fair put together the way that fairs should be.  Each year in July
you can enjoy all the fun, food, and entertainment that makes a county fair
a adventure for the whole family.  Fill your stomachs with fair foods
like cotton candy, corn dogs, and salt water taffy.  Then enjoy fun and
games such as a Ferris wheel, merry go round and then try your luck at the
water gun race and ping pong toss.  Afterwards, sit back and enjoy a
down home show with live entertainment, the Moultrie-Douglas County Fair has
hosted such greats as Johnny Cash, The Judds, and Brooks & Dunn.  If
music performances aren’t your thing then you can go enjoy the roar of the
tractor pull and demolition derby.

Independence Day Celebration
The largest display of fireworks in Central Illinois.  Each years tens
of thousands of visitors come to the Amish country to see aerial
performances from world war era planes, skydivers, helicopter rides, and the
largest display of fireworks in downstate Illinois.  Last year we were
even visited by a stealth plane flyover.  Come early to get great seats
for the show and to take part in the fun.  Food and drinks are
available for the whole family.

Arthur’s location in the quilt friendly Illinois Amish Country, the quality
of quilts in this show is outstanding. The show is a competitive event for
quilt enthusiasts with up to one hundred quilts on display.   Check our
